Students at CLA have the opportunity to compete in Boy’s Basketball and Girl’s Volleyball. In addition to the sports that we offer at CLA, students may also compete in other CHSAA sports by trying out at their home school or closest high school to their residence.
Whether a student competes in a sport at CLA or another school, they have to meet the eligibility requirements in order to pay. These requirements include items such as not failing more than one class and going to practice.
There are many advantages to playing sports beyond promoting exercise. Students who play sports learn accountability, teamwork, dedication, and leadership skills, and at CLA we encourage kids to take part in high school sports.
Students can participate in DPS’s Student Board of Education, where they have the opportunity to learn more about issues impacting the school and community, and then collaborate with others to design solutions. CLA values students developing their voices and using their voice to promote social justice and equity.
We also offer a Video Game Club, Wednesday during lunch, and a chapter of GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance, for members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies), Thursdays during lunch.
